We spent lots of time researching many breeds before deciding on the
Newfoundland! We have never looked back. Their most attractive trait is their
calm, and gentle personalities which make them perfect family pets. This
was key, as our dogs have to interact with people of all ages. Temperament
is of particular importance to us and we take every effort possible to ensure
that this breed trait is one that stays in the breed. It is simply what makes a
Newfoundland a Newfoundland!
Equally as important as a good temperament is good health. We take this
very seriously. All our dogs that we plan to add to our breeding program are
checked for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, as well as for Patellar Luxation. They
are Thyroid and Cardiac normal, and tested genetically for Cystinuria. Our
dogs are CERF'd and checked annually during their breeding careers. Don't
be shy, ask us for our CHIC numbers!
We are members in good standing with the Newfoundland Club of Canada, the
Northwestern Ontario tWorking Dog Association, the Canadian Kennel club,
and the Newfoundland Club of America.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about our
dogs. We love to meet new Newfy fans, and love to chat about our dogs and
the breed in general!
Cheers,
Jo-Anne Tait and Russel Yake
